INVESTORS clamoured for shares in oil junior Incremental Petroleum yesterday after it announced its southeast Turkey oil field had proved and probable reserves of 12.04 million barrels (mmbl).

It is the first time Incremental has released a reserve evaluation for the Selmo oil field, acquired soon after the company was floated in late 2005.

It said the field had proved reserves of 6.62 mmbl, proved and probable reserves of 12.04 mmbl, and proved, probable and possible reserves of 19.14 mmbl.

The news sparked heavy buying with Incremental closing up 30c or 19.5 per cent at $1.84 amid turnover of 2.5 million shares.

The company, whose market value is now $113 million, yesterday also reported revenue from oil sales for the third quarter of $10 million. Oil production for the quarter was 132,511 barrels, compared to 135,465 barrels in the previous quarter.

Turkish Wine Industry on the Up and Up
Turks still drink only about a litre of wine a year per capita, industry sources say, compared with 66 litres in France.
Turkey is the fifth biggest producer of grapes in the world, but only two percent are used in wine production.

HSBC plans to invest more in Turkey
At a press conference held at the Ciragan Palace on Friday, Chief Executive Officer of the HSBC Holding Sir John Bond said that the bank intends to increase its investments in Turkey, which will also create jobs in the country. HSBC plans within the next five years to increase the number of Turkish branches from 159 to 350. HSBC sees Turkey as a good opportunity for investment as it has been successful at overcoming economic crises, said Bond.
